Depression and Anxiety

1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England

Are you feeling anxious or depressed? You're not alone.
The good news is that therapy has helped many people to find a path through these debilitating states.

For some the reasons are recent and obvious, and they need support to get through the rough patch.

For others it will be something they have lived with all their lives, and now is the time to take back control of their mind and body.

Whatever your situation is, we can work together to identify the issues and find a way forward.

Working With Sexual & Gender Minorities

A large part of my background is in working with people from these communities, particularly men.

Perhaps you have grown up always knowing you were "different", or maybe only just come to a realisation at a later time of life. Either way, the effects of "minority stress" can be profound, affecting relationships, self-worth, and even the likelihood of anxiety and depression. For some, the confusion and uncertainity over who they are and what they want is the source of their suffering.

Whatever your background and situation, however you identify, you can be assured that you will find a safe, accepting and confidential space to explore whatever issues you bring to therapy.

Mindfulness & Self-Compassion

The concepts of mindfulness and meditation are most often associated with eastern cultures such as Buddhism. But you won't need to become a monk or sit on the top of a mountain to feel the benefits from incorporating these philosophies.

Western science is increasingly discovering their usefulness in a range of mental health conditions including anxiety and depression, improving emotional regulation, lowering anxiety, raising mood, reducing pain levels, and so much more.

The story has expanded with the concepts of self-compassion. Championed by experts such as Dr Kristen Neff and Professor Paul Gilbert, there is now mounting evidence of how these techniques and approach to life can benefit everything from relationship to PTSD.

These concepts form key building blocks in the work that I do with many clients. If you'd like to know more than please get in touch.
